The Rittman Press requests all seniors who have not yet submitted a senior portrait to place their photo in the box at the high school office. The notice also lists upcoming local birthdays anniversaries and college dean list recognitions among Rittman area residents.
Republican contenders for the primary will stump in Rittman and Doylestown Friday at informal gatherings. Wayne County Young Republicans host a candidates' evening at Edgewood Junior High School in Wooster at 7:45 Monday. State Senator Ralph Regula seeks the U.S. House seat vacated by Frank Bow. Wayne County Commissioner Robert Miller runs for state senator. Lindsey Williams, publisher of the Rittman Press, seeks state representative. Friday includes a Dutch treat luncheon at Williams Restaurant. a 2 pm coffee at 24 Orchard Drive in Doylestown. and an evening 7:30 reception at Pinewood Lane in Rittman.
The Rittman Planning Commission will host an informal seminar titled Where Do We Go From Here at the high school library Thursday at 7 30 p m. A long panel of locals including Brad Bodager Carl Bradford Al Broadhurst George Walb James Frye and pastors etc will discuss growth goals for the city and how to implement them.
The seventh annual Rittman Art Show opens next Sunday from 3 to 8 pm with judging on Wednesday and public hours Thursday through Sunday. Rotary Lions Three Arts Deltas Olla Podrida and Chamber of Commerce back the event which features a 10 foot artist palette display at City Hall and seven local prize categories.

A camper truck driven by Homer J. Corley of Akron failed to stop at a 57 intersection and collided with a Ford sedan driven by Edgar L Jewell of Youngstown. Six people were injured including two drivers and four passengers. They were transported to Wadsworth Rittman and Barberton Hospitals. Additional weekend crashes near Sterling left Dorothy Perkins in fair condition after her car hit an embankment and tree, with a series of Ritafan area accidents noted.
United Utilities announces the United Telephone System reached its 2,500,000th telephone on Monday March 20. RM Alden, executive VP operations, notes system growth from 507,341 in 1961 to 2,465,275 in 1971 and about 470,000 phones in Ohio across 51 counties, reflecting rapid expansion.
Mrs Arbelle L Breuers 43 of 302 W Sunset Dr died Tuesday night at Barberton Citizens Hospital after seven weeks hospitalization. Born March 2 1929 in Staten Island NY to Dorsey and Harriet Lam she lived in Rittman nine years and attended St Mark's Episcopal Church Wadworth. Survived by husband Frank and children Stephen Kevin Sandra all at home, four brothers Jay William Richard Ronald Lam of Staten Island and sister Grace Scott of Detroit. Services were held Friday at Gillman Funeral Home officiated by Rev Richard B Tuder of St Paul's Akron with burial in Rittman Cemetery.
Two council hearings set at City Hall include a May 22 meeting to consider rezoning a five acre corner at North Main and Frederick for a new Main Market supermarket. A separate April 17 session will hear objections to the city paving plan affecting Grandview and adjacent streets.
The Howard A Bair Post 423 of the American Legion in Rittman hosts a Past Commanders Banquet on Thursday April 20 at 7 30 p m at the East Sunset hall. Wayne County Council invites all Legionaires and wives. Guest speaker is Charles R Green Ohio Commander a WWII veteran from Warren Post 564 with extensive Legion service and GM Packard Electric ties. He chairs the Service to Military Family Committee of Trumbull County Red Cross and sits on its board of directors for 13 years.
James Alton Foster aged 60 of Stone Kentucky died Sunday morning at Williamson Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was father of James Foster pastor of the Church of Christ in Rittman. Services set for 11 am Wednesday at Stone Methodist Church with burial in Stone Cemetery.
Permission for the annual Poppy Days fund solicitation on May 19 and 20 was granted by the Merchants' Committee of the Rittman Shopping Center. Mrs Bertha Sherrick spoke for the American Legion Auxiliary. The committee seeks to limit solicitation under the canopy and parking area to prevent distant groups. Requests should be made at least two weeks before the event by writing or phoning any merchant or Russell Frey, center owner.
