A man was found dead on the city water shed area two miles south of town. Authorities report a hog carcass was placed nearby and the scene was discovered Saturday by officers responding to the location.

Bill Payne Captured by Forsyth Deputies Near Wallburg
Bill Payne, a white man known in this region and wanted in Greensboro for larceny of whiskey from a hospital, is jailed in Winston-Salem on charges of stealing a Mt. Airy Ford car and operating it without a proper license plate. Deputies Newsom Scott Gay and Smothers found him asleep in the car in a dense thicket near Wallburg Sunday morning. The state license plate had been tampered with, original number 53 949 changed to 53 848, and officers seek the owner. Payne carried about four hundred dollars, with merchandise packages bearing Mt. Airy advertising. The Mt. Airy car was missing several days.
