Crash Claims Two Local Men In Elkin Hill Cave-In
A cave-in at a hill excavation on E L Byrd farm near Elkin Saturday noon killed Troy Collins about 50 and his son 18 to 20. Ed Murphy of Rockford was badly hurt with a crushed leg and taken to High Point hospital. Several workers escaped as the cliff collapsed trapping three men. The Collins bodies were sent home to a farm four miles north of town.

Funeral Sunday for Willie L. Underwood in High Point
The body of Willie L. Underwood, killed in action November 9, 1918 in the Meuse Argonne sector, arrived in High Point and was taken to J. G. Leonard's home on Willowbrook. Funeral services were held Sunday at First Baptist with military rites and Elks band participation. Interment in Oakwood cemetery. Survived by five brothers, two sisters, and both parents.

Educational officials announced enrollment figures for White and Negro students in High Point schools. White enrollment stands at 3,512 with a 72.2 percent rate. Negro enrollment reaches 1,001.
