Local Boy Dies in Naval Hospital
Fernan Geay, son of Mr and Mrs M F Bendelph street, died in a naval hospital at New Seve after several weeks of illness from tuberculosis. He enlisted in the United Navy from this city two years ago and contracted illness during service. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters and two brothers.

E A Hammer aged 71 died at his Mechanicsville home after more than a year of ill health. He married Charlotte Payne in 1869 and had eight children, nineteen grandchildren, and two brothers. A Mason, he was given Masonic funeral rites. burial followed at Lebanon cemetery.

Charlie Welborn Knocked Unconscious In Truck Accident
Charlie Welborn of Mechanicsville was knocked unconscious but not seriously hurt Saturday afternoon when a truck carrying a party of negroes turned turtle near Jamestown as the vehicle neared the city. One occupant attempted to jump as it passed Jamestown, the driver became excited, and the steering wheel locked causing the truck to derail into an embankment. It is considered remarkable that none were killed outright.

Long Chase for Whisky Smuggling Ends in High Point

Reverend Charles A Cecil longtime megidist Protestant minister and former North Carolina conference president died at his High Point home Monday night at 7 30. He was born 1855 in Davidson County and educated at Old Trinity College after 34 years in ministry he served churches across the state. Surviving are his widow and one daughter Mrs Oscar C Durland both of this city. Funeral held at First Methodist Protestant Church Wednesday at 11 o clock conducted by Rev George R Brown. Families of W L Smith and W L Stamey visited near Brown Summit.

Fatty Arbuckle, famed silent film comedian, was formally arraigned in police court on a murder charge connected to the death of Virginia Rappe.
