Auto and street car collide on South Main Street
Sunday night a white man driving a buggy collided with a street car on South Main Street near Commerce just before 11 o clock. The buggy was shattered and the car damaged but no injuries were reported. The auto driver’s identity was not learned. Later at Jamestown a handcar of the Southern Railway was struck by another auto injuring Capps with cuts to the head. he was taken to High Point for medical care.

Freight Train Wreck Delays Northbound Service Near Jamestown
A Sunday night wreck near Jamestown derailed thirteen cars on freight train No. 52, injuring no one reported. Eleven cars carried lumber and two held cotton. wreckage spilled down a steep embankment. Engine 5209 was the power, Engineer Chandler and Conductor Jackson in charge. Wrecking crews cleared the line through Monday morning as passenger trains 35 46 48 12 and 43 faced delays and detours while a single track was used for through traffic. Local citizens watched the removal effort by auto.

Concord, Oct. 17. Jess Thomas, a former No. 10 township resident, built a ground subroom under his pigpen to evade prohibition officers. Three local officers found the room yesterday afternoon containing a still, liquor, beer, a bed, and furnishings.
