At Asheville a Southern Furniture Manufacturers Association convention urged substantial furniture price reductions to start before major sales in Grand Rapids Town, Jamestown and other centers. A December 15 meeting was tentatively set for High Point. C. F. Tomlinson received a silver service for four years as president. new officers elected include F. S. Lambeth, A. D. Witten, and J. T. Ryan.
William F. Claussen of Claussen S C is killed when his car is struck by an Atlantic Coast Line passenger train at a crossing near Florence. He was 72, a prominent planter, and survived by his widow and four children. The funeral plan was not announced.
Asheboro reports James Hinshaw was shot and killed at Randleman by overseer Hoffman after a dispute over time worked. Hoffman fired through a door with a shotgun as Hinshaw allegedly argued at Hoffman's residence. Hoffman was jailed and faced a preliminary hearing slated for Tuesday.
An 8 month old light brown and white collie puppy with a white face and underside is offered for reward by J. E. Denson at 411 entry street. Loflin's store was entered Sunday night with jewelry and clothing stolen and recovered from a vacant rear house. Edward I. Smith, a Confederate veteran, died Sunday and was buried at Hickory Church Cemetery. Francis Lofft died at his Jamestown home and was buried there.
Ralph G Knight, HIgh Point instructor, conducts a free night course in mechanical drawing at the city high school. Open to all local workers, the program aims to train machinists and factory workers, with room facilities and low equipment costs, while the state board for vocational education oversees the effort. A second item notes strong support in Guilford county for a $2 million bond issue to fund roads, with leaders from High Point and Greensboro urging swift action.

A meeting of business and professional men at the Elks club discussed preliminary steps to form a High Point country club. A committee including E W Freeze J P Rawley H B Hiatt Carter Dalton and W A Ring is to plan the organization and purchase about 60 acres near Jamestown for a modern clubhouse and member affiliates. The venture would be a stock company with elected officers and charter application.

Patro lman J A Cecil and fellow officer C S Wilson of the High Point police were found guilty of an affray in municipal court before Judge O A Kirkman. Each was fined 50 dollars and half the costs for a fight at the police station last Friday. Witnesses said Wilson called Cecil a derelict and Cecil struck him, then they fought until separated. The judge deemed both guilty and announced the fines and cost division. Also, Bob Ring failed to appear on abandonment and nonsupport charges, bond forfeited.

High Point plans to revive the Boy Scout movement to fill a city need with no Y M C A or similar boys group. Weaver Marr leads the effort, aiming to organize five troops by January and elect a Scout council of at least ten members to appoint a Scout commissioner and supervise local Scouting activities.
The Old Hickory club plans to become a premier rural sports organization in the region. A preliminary meeting at the Elks' home appointed organization and membership committees as plans for a 60 acre Ring farm site near Guilford College road move forward. A lake of about 20 acres will be stocked with game fish and bathing may be possible on sandy soils. The club will include a cottage with 18 rooms and may offer meals around the clock. Directors and officers will be chosen next Friday as the permanent organization is completed with 75 to 100 members expected.
Eight High Point teachers will represent the city at the North Carolina Teachers Assembly in Asheville starting November 24. Superintendent Weaver M. Marr announced the city’s 70 teachers have formed a local organization, qualifying eight delegates: H. G. Owen, C. A. Smith, F. M. Waters, W. M. Marr, Mrs. A. E. Frazier, Mrs. Lewis MacFarland, Mrs. R. F. J. Johnson, Lillian Proffit, and Jessie Thompson. The session runs through November 26 with Asheville preparing a warm welcome.
Guilford Superior Court’s December civil term is converted to a criminal term starting December 6, announced by County Attorney John N Wilson. Governor Bickett was told Attorney General Manning ruled no authority to call a special term while a regular term was fixed. The civil term will open December 13 to clear a large criminal docket before Christmas.
The American Red Cross charter outlines relief duties during war and peace, urging volunteers to aid the sick and wounded and to support disaster response. The November 11–25, 1920 roll call invites annual, contributing, life, sustaining and patron memberships and asks dues be sent to the local chapter.

Glenn Young of East St Louis, awaiting habeas corpus relief while jailed in Madison County for a murder indictment, was attacked and beaten by several federal prisoners in the county jail. Prisoners also threw hot water on him before officials intervened. Young, known for work with his police dog in the area, was jailed after a prohibition law violation led to his incarceration.
Manuel Scott, a Black man, confesses to shooting Captain R A Shiplett of Badin and is arrested in East Winston. He claims the incident resulted from a pistol scuffle with Shiplett and says he helped rob a Badin barber shop with accomplice Joe Harrell, who fled during the arrest. Scott is returned to Bay for trial.
Bank of Glasgow in Glasgow Virginia was robbed at 2 AM of liberty bonds and cash by three bandits. A Roanoke pursuit ended in a pitched battle. one robber was killed, two captured, patrolman L Hendrix wounded. Loot recovered from a barracks bag and Rodgers body found at the scene. Names given as Carter Porter and Rodgers. investigators link to other regional robberies.
