High Point Wins Methodist Protestant College Site
The North Carolina board of education chose High Point to house the denomination’s only Methodist Protestant college, rejecting Burlington and Greensboro. A June 5 fundraising drive will start, with construction to begin after the drive ends on a 60 acre site along the Greensboro turnpike, near Wesley Memorial church.

Prisoner Kent Greer Nabbed Near Salisbury in High Point Chase
Acting on information from High Point police, Sheriff Krider and Salisbury officers arrested Kent Greer shortly before noon Tuesday at the Yadkin river toll bridge. Greer, wanted in Virginia for auto theft, was in a Hudson touring car with a companion when stopped after a pursuit from Greensboro road. He had escaped Danville six year sentence on auto theft and resisted briefly before surrendering.

Death of Dr J E Brooks Remembrance in North Carolina
Dr J E Brooks of Blowing Rock died Thursday night prompting a High Point announcement. He was a prominent physician, helped establish the state sanatorium for tuberculosis at Montrose, led the institution for years, and later practiced in Blowing Rock near his family in Greensboro. Funeral services were held in High Point with burial at Siler City.

Power Litigation Set for June 16 in Federal Court

Big Highway Link Planned Between High Point and Winston-Salem
J Elwood Cox of the state highway commission says bids will be let within fifteen days to finish the permanent hard surfaced highway from High Point to Winston Salem. Iron Horse Destroys Youthful Life Here
Theodore Hayworth 16 son of E E Hayworth of 312 Thistle street died instantly when riding a bicycle on a path between railroad tracks near the old Southern Car shops. The northbound train N 45 struck him at D O Cecils crossing. His body was mangled and his bicycle demolished. He was an eighth grade student at Main Street School and is survived by his parents and three sisters.

Local boy stabbed by teen during Tuesday incident

Funeral Held for Late Army Officer Culburth
A military funeral was held in Thomasville for First Lieutenant D. C. Culburth who died in France in World War I. High Point residents attended the service at Main Street Methodist Church conducted by Reverends Tut tle and Goode. Culburth, 24, son of the late Dan Culburth, served as lieutenant of Company L in Thomasville.
