City Council Swears In Members and Installs School Board
Tuesday night the new city council was sworn in and began work on electing a five member school board to oversee city schools. Board members include Chas. F. Tomlinson chair from the Fourth Ward and four others with terms from one to five years. Women will sit on the board for the first time, with two female members from the First and Second Wards.

A special venire of 75 men was ordered to try Aaron Wiseman for the murder of Dr. E A Hennessee in Burke County. About 150 witnesses from Burke Mitchell Avery Haywood Catawba and Fredell counties are summoned as costs are estimated at 3000 to 5000 dollars.

Woman Found Tied After Kidnap Plot Unfolds
Mrs. Charles W. Pratt, recently shot, was found gagged and bound in her home during a botched kidnapping attempt. Deputies Wagner and Welch recovered the binding cords and a butcher knife. investigators pursue leads on two suspects, one black and one white, as threats preceding the shooting remain unresolved.

Memorial Service Held for Guilford Soldier Robert L. Woody

North Carolina to Dispatch Inspectors for Auto Tag Checks
North Carolina will deploy eight new inspectors to enforce automobile license tag laws statewide. Frank Page, chairman of the state highway commission, says about 10 percent of vehicles lack proper tags, costing at least 100000 annually. Memorial Day Observance by Local U D C and Confederate Groups
