The First Methodist Protestant Church exceeded its one million dollar Jubilee Campaign target with fifteen minutes left, subscribing $6,181 toward a local quota of $4,860. High Point Jury Gives Mrs Warrell 1000 Damages
Mrs Warrell sued the city of High Point for injuries when a bridge gave way on August 24 1917. A jury awarded her 1000 damages for injuries from the rotten timber under the bridge while her horse trod a timber and the buggy toppled. Wilson and Parsons spoke for the plaintiff and Dr Dred Peacock for the city.

Aaron Wiseman of McDowell County was found guilty of killing Dr. E A Hennessee at Glen Alpine on January 31 1918.
