Election returns show Mayor Tate winning a clear majority for a third term. His ticket carried with one exception as voters approved bonds, and new council members in wards one through three were elected. Tate took the oath Wednesday morning before Squire Sechrest and thanked voters for their support.

Friends mourn the death of Thos H Spencer who died Monday in Lexington after years of illness. The body was brought home for burial with Masonic services at the train as the remains were met by local members. He formerly served as depot agent, city council member, and treasurer of Eagle Furniture Co. He leaves a wife and three children.

Off to fishing grounds for local clergy party

Beer seizures during voting day end in acquittal
At noon on voting day O. A. Kirkman obtained a warrant from Judge Edmunds seizing beer found in violation of the law. Bud Jordan faced trial on the possession charge but was found not guilty Wednesday.

Doctor Charter Dies at 42 Near Greensboro
Dr. S Carter Charter died of pneumonia at his country home near Greensboro after falling ill last Wednesday. Born April 7 1871 in Crystal Lake Conn he practiced in Greensboro for over a decade and served as official veterinarian for the Southern Railroad. Survived by a widow and two sons the funeral was in First Baptist church.
