An ugly rumor in Wallburg alleges a minister's daughter involved with a married male school teacher. Since the scandal surfaced, the man has left the neighborhood and locals are greatly agitated.
Old Citizen J Larkin Ferguson a Confederate veteran and local Camp member died yesterday at 1 AM at his home 611 Smith Street of pneumonia. He was born April 17 1844 and was near 73 years old. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 PM from the Smith Street residence with the old veterans attending in a body.
The Lyon Furniture Mercantile Agency and the Furniture Commercial Agency merge to form the Lyon Commercial Agency publisher of the Red Book. The local office will be led by J Alfred Eshelman with assistance from J Walter Chandier.
The Marietta Paint and Color Co will open a branch plant in the former Piedmont Filler and Stain Co quarters to serve its growing southern trade. John Congleton and Lawrence White will run the new operation with fillers as the principal product.

George Brummell a long time resident died suddenly at Imperial House on Thursday afternoon from heart failure. He was 65, married twice with no children, survived by several relatives. Once a prosperous farmer he recently worked in a local factory and said he never felt better. The remains were interred locally.
Edwin Gould Jr. was killed near Brunswick Georgia while hunting when his gun discharged in a trap accident. He had accompanied his father on local hunts and was well known in the area. The Welch family announces the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. O F Welch.
The editor learned Tuesday noon of the sudden death of B F McClure at his McLeansville home. He was about 60, formerly in the grocery business, lived in town years, and had three marriages. His daughter Miss Bessie McClure, plus other children survive. Funeral services were 1:30 pm at Main Street M E Church conducted by Rev A G Dixon, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
