In urban centers the poor fear starvation due to high food costs and warn of possible unrest and civil strife. A harsh remedy proposed is to embargo foodstuffs even at the cost to business, with some suggesting U S action against shipping to lower prices and aid the hungry.
Until February 25 readers with a paid in advance subscription at 1.50 receive the illustrated magazine absolutely free. The offer claims 200 pictures per issue and high value. Also advertises RUB-MY-TISM antiseptic with claims to relieve rheumatism sprains and neuralgia.
Scholarships for sale for Ed wards Business College offering two and one complete course. Each $50 value offered at half price for immediate purchase or one course for $30. Offer valid until March 1st. The Review Office.
Chalmers C. McLean of Greens boro was a business visitor Tuesday.
High Point resident Mrs. Penny of 115 Taylor St. endorses Dean's Kidney Pills for kidney discomfort. She reports relief after taking the medicine and recommends it to others. Available at all dealers for 50 cents. Foster Milburn Co. Buffalo N Y distributes the product.
A community letter notes hospital funding committees work to raise 50 000 dollars. It argues Greensboro can raise large sums for public institutions and urges High Point to contribute, stating investments in public services benefit families and the city.
The Greensboro district presiding elder Dr. J. H. Weaver died suddenly at Greens boro after prayers at West Market Street church. He was 68, over six feet, in ministry over 40 years. his wife died four years ago and his son Charles C. Weaver heads Emory and Henry College. Funeral at West Market Street Methodist church Friday at 11 conducted by Bishop Kildo and Rev. E. L. Bain. Congress backs President Wilson with power. Reed bone-dry amendment passes 321 to 72, liquor shipment ban. most North Carolinians support bill except Small, Pou and Hood.
The Review announces a weekly paid up list starting next week. Names paid during the week will be published and on March 1 souvenirs will be mailed to all fully paid subscribers to that date. Additional payments earn immediate souvenirs and a place on the honor roll of the paid ups.
The editor calls for Pay Up Week to encourage timely subscription payments and clear old debts by mail or at the office. It notes that slow payers may not mean to shirk and stresses wiping out old balances for general prosperity.

Lieuten ant Bilhye Armstrong of Company M High died at Fort Bliss Texas Saturday night after pneumonia progressed to cerebros pinal meningitis He was 34 born in Danby Yorkshire England and had been in the United States since 1899 Surviving widow two children Jack and William Bruce four brothers and four sisters Affiliated with Elks and Masons he was a popular officer mourned by the community The Review extends sympathy to the bereaved.
The Review prints no anonymous communication about whisky seized by officers near the Armfield place. The published piece was withheld this week because no name was signed to the article.
Mrs. Luzena Raper aged 84 died after a lingering illness at her son Dolph Raper's home on West Commerce Street. She was widow of Solomon A. Raper and mother to Prof. Lee Raper of UNC and D. R. Raper. Funeral services were held at Abbott's Creek with interment there.

Chief Gray Deputy Wagner and Patrolman Welch captured about twenty gallons of whiskey near the W. J. Arm field farm around 9 o clock Friday. An automobile with four five gallon kegs and a fleeing man, Menese Williard, was stopped. License No 18880 was shown to J. Williard father of the boy. Williard has a prior scrape with Greensboro officer McFarland last October and was fined over $400 and ordered to prove good behavior for a year.
