The Big Dunlap Pony Contest attracts many entrants and urges active work to win the pony outfit. Voters earn one vote per two purchases and extra votes through subscriptions. registration ends June 30. Also reports of two marriages on East Washington Street with local residents and business ties.
A European five reel feature titled Satan will be shown at the Rose Theater next Tuesday June 24. The $200000 production is praised as the greatest educational and instructive picture with over 100 scenes and 5000 feet of film.
High Point drops regular Fourth of July celebration due to Furniture Exposition. Red Men cancel parade and plan a picnic dinner and torch procession. Speaking at 6 pm likely in Markley Grove Broad Street. Local sports and social notes include a diamond game and a bankruptcy matter involving Columbia Furniture. Several community members and visitors are mentioned along with an illness case for Archie Sherrod.
Dr. John C. Kilgo bishop of the Southern Methodist church will dedicate South Main Street M E church the first Sunday in July. The church debt was canceled May 18. A packed house is expected. Decoration Exercises by the Jr. O U A M Sunday afternoon at the cemetery drew a large crowd and praise for Col. D H Milton J W Sechrest and others. Over 1000 people attended the event.

The State Normal and Industrial College highlights annual growth with 1317 students last year and representation from eighty seven of North Carolina’s counties. Most graduates teach in NC schools, dormitories are state furnished, and two hundred free tuition slots will be awarded mid July. Apply early due to dormitory limits.
