In Goldsboro North Carolina six leading society women were seriously injured when a touring car swerved during a lightning bolt and turned turtle. Injured were Mesdames John Borden Robert Kornegay Robert Miller and Misses Elizabeth Mary and Reena Borden. The negro chauffeur fled the scene.

High Point residents traveled to Thomasville for the Baptist Orphanage annual meeting and picnic. Hon T W Bickett delivered an address in the morning and a Thomasville vs High Point ball game closed the day. The event drew a large attendance and was enjoyed by all.
Spencer June 24 robbery at J M Surratt store on Salisbury avenue occurred Monday night entry by rear window. Merchandise including shoes and canned goods valued at about 50 dollars taken. No clues yet, Surratt suspects local parties involved.
Louisa C Barbee died Tuesday night at her daughter Mrs John S Welborn's home on Washington Street from heart disease after two years of illness. Born Trinity North Carolina December 5 1840 she was 73. Survived by seven children six sons and one daughter. Funeral at 4 o'clock this afternoon Washington Street M E Church.
Mrs. A. E. Tomlinson returns home after a long western trip. Miss Nannie Aldridge and Buck Sechrest wed in October in Winston, a ceremony kept secret until now. Meanwhile the North Main Street car line extension through Mechanicsville nears completion and should open later this week, aiding factory workers in the area.
