Rain postponed a mass meeting until tonight at eight at the graded school auditorium. The City Council seeks public input on building a new fire station and city hall, urging turnout and timely remarks. Mayor Fred N. Tate emphasizes transparency and full publicity for residents to learn and express views before action.

At a Friday mass meeting Mayor Tate outlined city council plans for a $50,000 city hall with a ground floor market and top floor auditorium amid talk of $75,000. A storm reduced attendance and a second meeting was set for tonight. The meeting also addressed unfounded gubernatorial rumors, with Tate denying any interest. Nearby civic updates included the new Carolina and Yadkin freight depot and first day logistics, remodeling of the city court room, and local social notes.
Thomasville greeted the Carolina and Yadkin River railroad’s first electric car today with a mayoral welcome and a cheering crowd. The yellow car, powered by storage batteries, seats 30 and travels about 20 mph. A regular High Point to Thomasville service is planned within two weeks, with seven miles per hour on the return leg.
