The High Point Elks led a Winston parade with over 100 from the city and about a thousand spectators. They carried white and heliotrope umbrellas and won the silver loving cup amid big applause. A business session and barbecue followed, with the 1915 Convention expected to go to Charlotte.
The city schools began commencement with class day exercises for 32 graduates the largest class in the high school's history. Dr. Raymond Binford of Guilford College delivered a baccalaureate message, followed by an address from Dr. W. T. Whitsett. Diplomas were awarded to 32 graduates with orations, essays, and medal prizes, and a seniors reception was held Tuesday night.
High Point’s building boom continues with a new year headline as permits near fifty thousand dollars. Major approvals include D T Andrews four thousand, H A Bencini two thousand, A Roberson twenty five hundred, Southern Chair Company two thousand, Venetia Smith twenty one hundred, Dr Hiatt four thousand, and W T Kennedy fifteen hundred.
