J Reid Fitzgerald died Friday afternoon at his West Greene Street home after a week long illness from pneumonia. Survived by his wife and three children, he was born in 1886 to J A and Virginia Fitzgerald and worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. He attended Wesley Memorial Church. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 PM from the home, conducted by Rev. W A Lambeth and Rev. H H Robbins. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery.

Emperor of Sahara Shot by Wife at Phoenix Lodge
Jacques LeBaudy known as Emperor of the Sahara was shot and killed by his wife as he entered Phoenix Lodge on a Phoenix night. He had been separated from his wife for months and was described as an eccentric millionaire, son of the late Max LeBaudy. A guard had been posted after a disturbance at the lodge, but LeBaudy entered and was found at the foot of the grand staircase with a five bullet wound. Police found a revolver with five empty shells in the bedroom and another revolver in a fur coat pocket. LeBaudy, once heir to a large French estate, had long pursued schemes to establish a maritime city on Africa’s coast.
