High Point Mob Held After Hosiery Theft Ring
Fred Suits and Paul Payne, both white, were arrested Friday night on larceny charges for stealing hosiery valued over $100 from High Point and Amos Hosiery mills. About 50 dozen men’s hose were taken from the High Point plant. most stolen goods were recovered at arrest. Other burglaries included a window entry at the High Point mill and stash spots found in a tent top and a local merchant’s box. Suits, a married father of three, and Payne, about 18, face municipal court Monday. A separate item notes a train collision near Columbia causing multiple deaths and injuries, with 12 dead and many injured. Freight and rail workers involved.
