Humane officer ends horse suffering after back sore
Mrs. R. Soyars humane officer reports a horse with a severe back sore was put out of commission on Tuesday. Authorities believe a nail in a board used as a whip caused the injury and ended the animal's condition.

Alleged Thief Arrested After Mule Theft and Flight
A white man named J R Parker of Camden New Jersey was arrested in High Point on Guilford county warrants. He allegedly stole a mule from Swift Fertilizer Company in Greensboro and a harness from George Putman, hitched the mule to a wagon, headed toward a farmhouse with corn, and fled south. Sheriff Stafford ordered a search and Parker was detained on North Main Street. He refused to talk and was taken back to Greensboro by evening.
