Big fire devastates businesses in Winston Arbovelock area

A morning blaze ripped through Winston Arbovelock destroying the Elk's Job Piedmont hotel Liberty theatre Hutchinson's drug store pool room restaurant fruit stand and other properties. Firefighters battled the flames as residents watched. Pixie Griffich formerly with Matton Jue Co was reportedly assisting at Hutch’s during the incident.

Compulsory Vaccination Advocated By City Leaders

Donkey Party Convenes in Guilford Convention

Guilford Democrats met in Greensboro led by Cameron Morrison who warned against Negro domination and pledged protection for Southern women within an Anglo-Saxon government. Delegates to the State Convention were chosen with new High Point precinct registration and designated registrars and pollholders. Registration opens Friday April 27 and closes May 2. re-registration is required to vote this year.

Messers Eshelman and Sheroffs Sunday school classes from Wesley Memorial took a cross country hike to the Benbow evils about 414 miles from High Point. Fourteen boys enjoyed fishing jumping and games then returned about 6 30 p m. The Ralto Horney residence built in 1765 drew interest with Cornwallis said to have lived there at times.
