1600 Children Parade in High Point Pageant

The High Point pageant of city schools will feature more than 1,600 pupils in a parade this afternoon at 2:00. Starting from Elm Street school at 1:45, the procession will travel down Main Street to the post office and Main Street school by 2:30, with mounted police aiding order.

Federation colors in session and fair notes in town

The Federation of Women's clubs gathered here in blue and white. Timber deed blanks and hay and corn stover for sale listed by Mrs. W. L. Kivett. The Methodist district conference at South Main Street church drew many delegates and townspeople. Stamey Printing House offers printing with pony and rig credit for subscriptions, and Supt. Thornwell Haynes gave the commencement address at Denton High School on Help Somebody Today.

Woman Rests From Earthly Labors in High Point

Mrs. H. F. Clinard 72 died at home on Richardson Street after a long illness. Maiden name Desdemona Charles, born near Deep River. Survived by seven children including A. C. Clinard and E. J. Clinard. Funeral Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. A. W. Claxon. Pallbearers named H A Moffitt, BE C McCarthy, W D Simmons, F H Ford, J H Petty, L B Williams, R R Ragan, Clarence Smith.

High Point precincts reorganized and voting places set

Notice states North High Point Precinct splits into Northeast and Northwest High Point precincts with defined boundaries and polling sites at City Hall Jordan Street and Home Bank West Washington Street. Printer Loses His Life in Winston Fire

Lewis E. Mitchell 54 of this city died in the Winston fire that destroyed the Neil hotel where he boarded after going to Winston to work for Winston Printing Co. His remains were brought home for interment after funeral services at 4 p.m. Saturday from 208 West Russell Street. He had worked in the local printing trade for years and is survived by his wife two children and a stepson Samuel Mitchell, also a printer here.

State Federation of Women's Clubs Opens in City

Nearly 200 delegates gathered at the Auditorium for the opening session of the State Federation of Women's Clubs with Rev C P Cobl giving the invocation and Miss Ella Lambeth leading a Pilgrim's chorus. Attendees included Mrs Percy V Pennycracker of Texas and Mrs J J Farriss. The event featured remarks from Mrs J E Ellerbee and Mrs Thomas W Lingle, a reception at the Elk's Home, and an afternoon of committee reports and demonstrations. The convention continues through Friday with a planned adjournment that night.

Democrats Gather in Raleigh State Convention Speeches Delivered

The state Democratic convention convened in Raleigh with Senator Simmons delivering the keynote. High Point received one district elector, T. J. Gold of the Imperial Fifth, as delegates including J. Stolen Ford Car Traced Across Counties

A 14 year old Negro, Cole Lee, stole a Ford in Winston Saturday night and drove to Jamestown before abandoning it. Chief Gray recovered the vehicle near High Point and, with Chief Thomas of Winston, arrested the youth between here and Thomasville. Chas. P. Hedgecock, in his 60th year, died Sunday at home four miles north of the city from Bright's disease. Surviving wife and four children. funeral at Abbott's Creek Monday conducted by Rev. Neese Davis.

Argyle Show License Row Ties To May Exhibition

The city council refused a permit for Argyle shows to exhibit the week of May 22 but the editor notes the manager Mr Gibbs is reputable and a court ruling says such shows cannot be lawfully denied if clean. The piece warns excessive taxes or arrests would worsen city troubles and mentions refunds for overcharged fees.

Youthful law breaker jailed after tire theft chase

A juvenile, Fagg, was captured after a Sunday pursuit through Steal street and Dewey street ends with his arrest near Copeland home. Grissom already jailed on related charges. At preliminary trial Fagg pleads not guilty and denies knowledge of the crime. Witness Pauline Gresham testifies she overheard talk of stolen leather hiding in the woods.
