Red Hook zoning variance for Thor Equities project approved
The City Council subcommittee on zoning approved a USARP variance for Thor Equities planned esplanade at the former Revered Sugar Factory site on a peninsula in the Erie Basin near IKEA. Council member Carlos Menchaca called it benign but urged accountability and cautioned on environmental concerns about dirt left on site and soil contamination. Allison Reeves urged stricter conditions and better interagency coordination before any variances.
