Garbage Backlog Cleared At 135 Richards Street NYCHA
Tenants at the 16 story NYCHA building at 135 Richards Street faced a week without garbage pickup after the superintendent and manager left. Incinerator chutes stopped functioning, trash filled basements, and foul odors spread through hallways until NYCHA officials and local lawmakers intervened. A new manager has begun work and future service is expected to improve.
