Bus thief nabbed after purse snatch on B57 ride
A 23-year-old rider on the B57 bus reported her phone stolen by a man who sat behind her after offering help with bags on April 14 at Smith and W 9th. The suspect, 30, fled via emergency exit but was pursued by another passenger and detained until police arrived. A separate incident on April 6 saw a 37-year-old woman identify Jack Johnson of Union Street as the thief who stole her iPhone, wallet, clothes, and a diaper bag from a car. Police arrested him hours later. In another case a 41-year-old Amir Stanley was arrested on April 3 at 80 Dwight St after allegedly beating his girlfriend with a green banana. A Sackett Street resident lost a BMW valued at $75,000 on April 3. A March 30 break-in on Luquer Street yielded a laptop, two drills, a diamond ring, diamonds, and two pearl necklaces in daylight between 1 and 2 p.m.
