Mass will be said at 11 a m on October 16 at the home of J P Schwartz in Potter. Confessions will be heard each Sunday before Mass and catechetical instructions for children follow Mass. Mass will continue at the Schwartz home every other Sunday until further notice. Rev P Moriarty, Pastor.
Services next Sunday include Sunday school at 10 a m preaching at 11 a m on The Plowman Epworth League at 6 30 p m Evening service at 7 30 p m The Man Who Had a Chance but Lost it first of six sermons on Men Who Have Missed the Way Prayer meeting Wednesday evening at the usual hour.
A public sale on Allen Dykeman’s farm two miles west of Potter attracted a large attendance with buyers coming from up to thirty miles. Horses and hogs were the main draw, and an advertisement for the Charles F Waterman sale next Thursday appears in this issue.
Oscar F Scovill born February 13 1848 died September 21 1921 at his Peru home aged 73 years seven months eight days He served in Co K 48th Illinois Infantry enlisting 1864 discharged 1865 He married Olive Shockey 1875 (three sons two daughters) widow Olive died 1901 He remarried Mary E Leslie 1903 He leaves wife Mary 21 grandchildren and two brothers He joined Church of Christ 1914 and lived faithfully The funeral was at Nemaha September 3 conducted by Rev Hageman interment Nemaha cemetery
Johnny Johnson formerly living here eight years ago stopped at the Peter Nelson home last Saturday during a journey from Sweden to his Idaho residence.
A series of real estate transfers listed with buyer and seller names, property descriptions, and prices. Transactions include lots in Wellner’s and Clarkson’s additions, fractions in Sidney areas, and nominal $1.00 transfers, plus several larger sales such as S. J. Love to Regna W. Ladd for 15 000 dollars and J. P. Boyce to George M. Carson for a 15% interest valued at 450 dollars.
The Potter village board met October 3 1921 at 7 pm with J A Woten chairing and trustees Johnson Babcock Francis Larsen. Bills were approved for painting crossing printing labor salaries and supplies. A motion to place a street crossing south of the school on Sheridan street east side was carried. Meeting adjourned. The notice also invites readers to subscribe to Omaha newspapers via local agent H J Finnegan and mentions residents Mr and Mrs H J Finnegan returning from Medicine Bow Wyoming.

Discussion on child hygiene and welfare led by Lillian Brady and Doris Hagemeister in Reading. Miss Johnson led the session titled What is Our Town Doing for the Children. Social hour and refreshments followed.
The American Red Cross promotes rescue and resuscitation training with a motion picture titled Every Swimmer a Life Saver to be shown Thursday October 20 at Leyfang Theatre. Produced under expert lifeguards, the film teaches practical rescue methods and resuscitation, ending with Boy Scouts practicing first aid as part of their activities.
The ladies of the W. C. T. U. will hold a bake sale at Thornburg and Hager's store tomorrow Saturday October 15 starting at 2 p.m. A complete line of pies cake bread cookies rolls doughnuts and other home baked goods will be offered.
The Northwestern Nebraska Wyoming Lutheran conference hosted twenty one pastors and missionaries in Potter for a three day session. Reports showed many souls drawn to Christ as the group shared worship and appreciation for Potter's hospitality. The W C T U will hold a mothers meeting at Mrs Wm Hagemeister’s home on October 19 with a scripture reading to open. Topics include Sacredness and Responsibility of Motherhood and Fatherhood, plus programs on lullaby telling the children motherhood and the life of a little one. Various speakers present works on family, home life, and duties to children, ending with a song Mother Old and Gray.
Mr and Mrs John Herman visited the Wm Kubis home in McGrew Neb on Saturday and Sunday and attended a big dance at the penish hall. Several residents report chores such as repainting and chicken house construction while others recount a field accident. Neighbors hold a farewell party for George Rose. corn husking and duck hunting are mentioned along with local water quality and a line trouble on the 47 and 52 telephone lines.
