Potter High School Shines In District Commercial Contest
Potter High School placed eleventh in the state division and fifth in the district in the district and state commercial contest. The district team won first in team championship typing and second at the state level with Lois Mathewson Janis Whitney and Charlotte Enevoldsen posting strong speeds. Enevoldsen led district VI in novice typing 10 minute event and ranked fourth statewide. Mathewson and Whitney also posted high speeds in champion typing events.

Foreclosure of Village Properties Under Way in Potter
The first block of Potter properties with delinquent taxes dating from 1935 or later will enter foreclosure, handled by Cheyenne County attorneys R. P. Kepler and P J. Heaton. Publication of the foreclosure notice and property sale will follow the legal notice in a few weeks and five weeks after. The village plans ongoing auctions until all properties are cleared, with expectations taxes will be paid prior to sale, repeating a proven countywide method in Dalton and Sidney.

Potters water rate for May through September offers 5c per thousand gallons for usage over a 4000 gallon monthly minimum, with standard rates 8c for higher usage. Fees: 1.00 for minimum, 5 thousand gallons 1.05, 10 thousand 1.30, and so on. The city promotes low rates with no use restrictions.
Omaha Boosters Take Over The Town
Seventy Omaha business and professional men joined by Dan Desdune’s band brightened downtown for a fifteen minute stop on the Good Will Special. The ten car train heads a 2100 mile tour through 65 towns in three states to build ties between Omaha and visiting communities. The six day journey ends Saturday night as locals, students and faculty gather for candy and trinkets showered on children.

Rosalyn Eunice Saxen of Potter, born November 9, 1922, died April 28, 1939 in Kimball Nebraska at sixteen. She lived in Pine Bluffs Wyoming, attended Kimball Grade Schools, and was a Kimball High School sophomore. Funeral April 30 at Kimball Methodist Church with interment in Kimball Cemetery.

Poppy Sale Tops Expectations At Local Event
The Auxiliary reports a very successful poppy sale last Saturday raising almost 50 dollars for 500 poppies. It was the largest sale in years, with a little over half the funds staying for local rehabilitation work among worthy veterans and the balance going to the veterans who made the flowers.
Wheeler drives to third in old vehicle parade at Jubilee
At the Golden Spike Jubilee in Sidney L. J. Wheeler and the four-horse buck wagon placed third in the old vehicle section, earning $5.00. Jeanetta Sloan won first in the women's costume contest for the most attractive woman. Martin Leafdale, 90, was named the oldest citizen.

Dr. G. W. Rosenlof, professor of secondary education at University of Nebraska Teachers College, will deliver the annual commencement address at Potter high on Thursday May 18. A large crowd gathered in Sidney for the Golden Spike Jubilee featuring the western Nebraska premiere of Union Pacific. The event honored Wm. Jeffers, showed historic exhibits, hosted a long parade, a testimonial banquet, and 1860s costumes. Local barber shops ran full as celebrations expanded countywide.

Freshman Class Hikes to Point of Rocks for Picnic
Fifteen freshmen with sponsors Miss Mc Laughlin and Mr Barrett hiked to the Point of Rocks last Wednesday afternoon May 3 for their second semester picnic. After games around the campfire and exploring, the group enjoyed the provided food. Some students hiked both ways while a few were picked up on the return trip.
