Prominent Pio neer and Attorney Miles Dies at Lincoln
William Patton Miles 82 longtime Sidney resident and noted Nebraska attorney died in Lincoln after a period of illness. A Hopkinton Academy graduate, Miles practiced in state and federal courts, served as county attorney, prosecuted outlaws, and was active in the Republican Party. He survived gunshot wounds in early service and left a lasting mark on Sidney’s growth. (Continued on page 5)

Celebrates 89th Birthday of Local Pioneer Benish
Antone Benish, a 50 year pioneer in the region, quietly marked his 89th birthday on June 15, 1937 with close relatives. A former Union Pacific foreman at Potter, he has kept active health and railroading interests. He traveled to Sidney to inspect the new Union Pacific train on its first run through the area.
