Potter Celebrate Independence Day Draws 2000 Despite Rain
Over two thousand people braved rain for Potter's 1921 Independence Day celebration. Paraders impressed, royal neighbors and W C T U floats won prizes, Rev C O Troy delivered a praised lecture to about 400, with 1600 missing it. Gate receipts neared 450 dollars as ball game crowds and fireworks capped a full day.

Obituary for Sophia Carolina Strombomb Johnson born December 31 1840 in Smoland Sweden died July 2 1921 at age 80 in Potter Nebraska following pneumonia. She married A D Johnson in Sweden 1861 and raised five children with husband in Illinois Kansas and finally Nebraska. Funeral at Potter Methodist Church with Rev Chas O Troy officiating. interment in Potter cemetery. She was renowned for devout Christian life and steadfast faith in God and Jesus Christ and leaves husband two daughters a son and many grandchildren.

The Potter Bear Cats beat Lodge Pole 13 to 3 on Sunday in the eighth game of the series and defeated Kimball 10 to 3 on Monday during the Fourth of July celebration. Attendance was light Sunday, but Monday drew over a thousand fans as Potter shifted momentum with solid hitting and strong pitching. Schellenberg hit two home runs in the series, though only two bases were allowed by ground rules.
