Nebraska bishop knows his state like a book

Bishop George Beecher attended a celebration for twenty years as Episcopal bishop in western Nebraska by proxy sending his children. He and Mrs Beecher were confined in Hastings hospital recovering from injuries in an automobile crash. Beecher’s career spanned seventeen more years as minister after twenty in bishopric, with early work starting in Sidney in 1893 and service across North Platte, Cheyenne, Banner and Kimball counties. He led a boys club, mentored youth, toured with Buffalo Bill Cody, and guided Cody’s wild west show as a guest. His vast Nebraska ties and history knowledge made him a beloved western preacher. Thomas Fisher returned Friday from an airplane trip to Monroe and other Nebraska points, postponing Kansas travel due to cold weather.
