Potter approves a new electric rate effective January 1 1931 allowing large users to pay a $4.50 minimum for up to 30 kWh then 4c per kWh. Savings of 15 to 35 percent on bills expected. old rate remains for smaller users. Eligible customers must apply in writing for a six month commitment.
Local residents are constructing an ice skating rink on the old camp ground site in Potter. Retaining walls and much earth work were completed by tractors. Water will be added soon to allow freezing. The exceptionally large rink will provide much winter amusement for youths.
The local American Legion Auxiliary has focused on rehabilitation for disabled veterans. It mats caps for government hospital patients, especially tubercular wards. Knitters are invited to contribute, with yarn and instructions available from the Auxiliary. all help is welcomed and appreciated.
A Methodist Ladies Aid notice invites friends to a Saturday noon meal on December sixth featuring chicken, roast pork, rolls and jell, mashed potatoes and gravy, pickles, cranberries, salad, coffee, and apple and pumpkin pie. They extend a hearty welcome to all attendees.
Agnes Aldrich of Potter and Oscar J. Koch were married November 27, 1930, at the M E parsonage in Kearney Neb. Rev. Paul M. Hillman officiated before close relatives. A Thanksgiving dinner followed at the bride’s mother’s home in Venango Neb with well wishes from the Pot ter community.
Those desiring Christmas cards with their name printed on them should place orders at once at the Review office. Cards are cheaper and better than ever before, with a limited stock and no reorders. Orders must be at least 25 cards. unsigned cards may be bought elsewhere. A third of stock already contracted, a new artistic imprinting type secured.
The Village of Dix, which buys electricity from the Potter plant, received a voluntary rate reduction from Potter officials at a board meeting last Monday. The Dix rate was reduced by about 16 or 17 percent, a cut not petitioned for by Dix.
The annual bazaar and dinner of the Ladies Aid at the M. E. church parlors will feature a noon dinner. The event is noted as popular and well attended with the dinner menu listed elsewhere in the issue.
The Review will publish free employment or help wanted ads this winter following state papers. The offer remains in effect until March first. Write your own ads if you need to hire or seek work and use this service.
Wayne Binning accompanied his brother Gene Binning of Dix to Cheyenne Wyoming last Saturday where the latter underwent a minor operation and is reported recovering nicely.
Two items dominate a Potter Review issue. A Broadwater boy died of alcohol poisoning, while two Dalton youths earned merit with the University of Nebraska crop judging team at the Kansas City American Royal on November 1. The issue also lists perfect attendance and tardy counts, Thanksgiving visits, and upcoming Christmas program plans with operetta rescheduled to December 16.
Tonight the Coyotes face Ovid Potter in the season opener marking the first athletic clash between the schools. Ovid enters with a noted strong program and extra practice time, while the Coyotes arrive fresh from football and still organizing, but they enjoy home court advantage.

Sixth and seventh graders report a happy Thanksgiving vacation. The seventh grade reading class studies Snow Bound by Wittier. Sixth grade English class wrote Thanksgiving stories and made booklets last Wednesday. Richard Shea joins the sixth grade. Spelling contest between grades ends with sixth grade winning by two points.
Mrs Quein and Mr Quein report a modern twist on holiday travel as Charley Smith’s car makes a notable ride over the river and through the woods to grand father’s house for a feast of turkey pudding and pumpkin pie.

Donald Olson of near Venango suffered severe injuries when his right hand was caught in a corn picker last Thursday. Surgeons amputated the hand just above the wrist after his fingers were torn at the knuckles while he and his brother operated the machine.

Mrs Turner welcomed the H H club with an all day session last Friday and served a noon dinner. North Herdon school children presented a Thanksgiving program to a large audience of parents and friends, highlighted by an aeroplane landing and Tom Fisher’s arrival to hear the program. Maxine and Buford Todd are ill with intestinal flu. Nels Thurston and Mrs Palmer Thurston visited Dalton. Thanksgiving guests included Mr and Mrs Geo Fawcett at Dix and Mr and Mrs C S Anderson and family at the Sars Tolle home. Mrs Gilbert Gossin and Mrs Frank Smith will attend an extension service in Sidney on Dec 6.
