Mrs Nancy Jane Grubb aged 83 died at her Kimball residence. Born in Tuscaroos county Ohio she moved with her husband to northeast Kimball county in 1887 and lived there most of the time. Survived by daughter Mrs M Welton Flagler and two sons William Elwood Illinois and Fres Kimball. Three sons and one daughter and her husband preceded her in death.
Start of road project to connect Sidney west and Kimball east with oil seeding from Potter. Trucks haul water nonstop at 2000 gallons per hour to dampen surface as machines prepare the roadbed for bituminous matting. Governor Bryan aims to model state road building with swift completion and local employment, as portions near Sidney to Cheyenne advance and others await next year’s surface.

Luther H. Cook aged 63 died at Alliance. Burial held at Gering. Survived by his widow and two daughters. Two children perished at Gering many years ago in a fire that nearly wiped out the Skip McCamsey family.
Henry Studt a 74 year old cowhand at the Harry Lockhart farm west of Peetz was thrown from a horse sustaining a broken collar bone and a dislocated hip. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Sterling for treatment.
George Puckett of Sidney sustained injuries when his car was sideswiped by a Colorado truck four miles north of Sidney. The truck was held by county officers while Puckett filed attachment papers and awaits trial.
Albert Bates alias George Harris faces arrest in Denver on charges of aiding in the kidnapping of Oklahoma oilman Chas. Urrschel. He is linked to the 1924 Bushnell bank raid in which three men attempted the theft but failed, and Arlo Baker fatally shot one man.
Dr. J J Fiegenschuh was called to Cheyenne county at the start of the week to operate on a cow. He removed a large spike from the animal's stomach after it is believed the cow swallowed the spike while eating hay or grass.
The misbranding charges target Jack Simpson, manager of Carpenter Oil’s small Box Butte county refinery, though Congressman Carpenter is not a direct party. The case was filed at Alliance.
Gus Edens of Imperial Nebraska and his two sons Harold and Floyd, with their wives from Julesburg Colorado, join Mr and Mrs C H Theiman of Sidney Nebraska at Barney Edens home in Potter last Friday. Gus Edens is Barney Edens brother and Mrs Theiman is Barney’s sister.
Sergt Vincent E Boyle of the U S Marines, formerly Hebron Nebraska, stationed in Shanghai, outshot 70 entrants in a rifle match to win the Arethusa cup presented by a British battleship crew. Boyle scored 101 points of 105. He belongs to the 4th Marine Regiment.
Gordon Gardner and Earl Hyle of Gavard were arrested by deputy game warden C. L. Herling for shooting pheasants out of season. They pled guilty to shooting five birds and were fined 25 dollars per bird plus 10 dollars per bird in damages and 3 dollars in costs, totaling 178 dollars. Their shotguns were confiscated.
Troop 19, Boy Scouts of America, Sterling Colorado, spent a weekend in Potter and vicinity hunting Indian artifacts and verifying U P era stories. Guides A T Blackman and Daniel Goodwin led tours of the Gunderson flour mill and ranch, with Dr Walter Gunderson explaining the 1889 building. The group viewed Fred Vaughan and George Thirwall collections, learned taxidermy basics from Maynard Mayer, and marked Summit Springs battle sites where U S Cavalry and Pawnee Scouts fought Tall Bull. They also traced the old valley relay stage station and found and shared their findings with Ray Goding.
L. Arthur of Omaha has been visiting at the G. L. Rogers and Fred Reetz homes and also attending to business matters. Mrs. Arthur is one of the pioneer doctors of Nebraska, and is widely known over the state. She has extensive land interests in this part of the state.
Sunday dinner guests at the J W Bertramson home included Mr and Mrs Harry Lockhart and family with Catherine and Leo O Hare. Numerous visits follow, including Miss Lavonne Vesey with Miss Erma Nelson, Frank Peetz and children in Sidney, and Jens Olsen family in Peetz. The Antelope team lost 10 to 17 to Dix at the local diamond, with many neighbors hosting and visiting throughout the week.
