Consummated Sale Of Hocking Valley Line In This City
The Columbus, Hocking Valley and Toledo railroad and the Hocking Coal and Railroad company were sold at public auction at the Hocking Valley freight house on Maple street. Bidders included ME Ingalls Jr for the reorganization committee, with the sale starting at 10 and concluding around 12. The three parcels of stock and bonds, plus the main line and coal railroad, brought 250000, 5000, 000. 8260000. and 750000 respectively, with a combined sale price of 4000001. The auctioneer was Colonel D L Perry. participants included A R Humes, BR Cowen, and others. Afterward the party traveled to Union Station for a special train to Cincinnati to confirm the sale before Judge Taft in U S court. The sale followed a decree from the Circuit Court of the United States for the southern district of Ohio eastern division, May 24, 1888, in foreclosure proceedings by the Central Trust Company of New York.
