Death of John A Shaw marks county loss and service record
John A Shaw died June 21 1901 at his Green Township home aged 70 years 6 months after two years of decline. A lifelong public servant he served as Treasurer of Perry County from 1868 to 1875 and as Infirmary Director later. Born December 21 1830 in Frederick City Maryland he moved to Perry County as a child and later to Hocking County. He married Josephine Rolsten January 18 1868 and left nine children. A faithful church member and peacemaker he was mourned by a large civic procession and burial at Smith Chapel with ministers officiating.
