Grand jury session reports indictments and local motions
The grand jury was in session four days last week reporting Saturday afternoon. Seventy witnesses were examined in twenty cases before the jury, eighteen of which yielded indictments. The county jail pump for rainwater supply is to be installed. Court recess extends to next Tuesday. Judge Marain sits for Judge Bradbury at mercy this week. The petit jury is summoned for Monday January 22. Judge Wright, newly chosen Murray City Solicitor, was summoned to review municipal affairs involving Mayor Albaugh, Board of Water Works trustees, and city officials. Susie Hartmann, four, fractured her left limb after a fall in the Bowen Street cellar near Logan Clay Product Go plant. Dr. I G Wright treated her. Mr. Hartmann works at Logan Brick Mfg Co.

Sand-bagged resident Eck Sands targeted by masked pranksters
Eck Sands, a well known local figure, was ambushed by two masked jokers near the fire station. They used a sand bag and an improvised weapon and demanded money, leaving only the Acme sparkler and cash untouched. The assailants were Claude Lyon and Dr. Harry Eastman and escorted Sands to his home where he opened ale and cigars. A list of marriage licenses follows.
