Delhi Township Candidates Propose Council of Governments

Delhi Township trustees Jerome Luebbers and Dusty Rhodes proposed forming a Hamilton County Council of Governments to address area wide problems while keeping independent local governments. They spoke at St. Antoninus Church and argued merger plans lack local responsiveness, citing the Delhi Survey showing opposition to city merger.

Reif and Knabe Lead Oak Hills Levy Drive

Dan Reif and Arthur Knabe co chair the Oak Hills Committee For Good Schools to back a 4.8 mill operating levy on the Oak Hills School District ballot. The move aims to stave off a projected 1970 deficit while financing salary increases for about 325 teachers. Reif and Knabe have ties to Covedale Bridgetown and Bridgetown Dads Club, with community roles in historic preservation police and legal circles.

Coalition May Call For Krabach Ouster

The Democratic Charter Coalition plans to call for City Manager Richard Krabach’s ouster at a 12 15 p m luncheon at the Terrace Hilton Hotel. A high ranking Democrat said action stems from alleged nonfeasance and failure to attend key city meetings and staff coordination.

Four Indicted in Delhi Savings and Loan Slaying Case

Hamilton County grand jury indicted three of four men in the Cabinet Supreme Savings and Loan killings on Delhi Pike. John Leigh, Watterson Johnson, and Raymond Kassow face four first degree murder charges. Carl Ingle was not indicted. Kassow’s bond hearing was set for Oct. 15. Victims were Lillian Dewald Helen Huebner Luella Stitzel and Henrietta Stitzel. A fire blamed on careless smoking caused $1500 damage to a bathroom. A separate car fire caused additional, unestimated damage.

Politics In Bloom Seventeen Candidates At Area Rally

About 100 St Antoninus Mews Society members heard 17 candidates from Cincinnati and Green and Delhi Townships discuss taxes parks drugs and crime. Elmer Schubert and Clarence Luken urged restraint on township taxes while Peter Pandilidis highlighted a park and drug concerns. The event included questions on Fountain Square use and a Council of Governments proposal.

Delhi Township to auction land near Neeb Road fire house

Delhi Township trustees set a November 5 auction date for irregular land adjacent to the Delhi fire house on Neeb Road. The parcel includes a 200 by 25 foot driveway and a 50 by 75 foot area behind the fire house with a storage shed. The fire department previously bid a dollar for a nearby 50 by 30 foot lot, but ownership was not transferred.

Covedale Nurse Wins Army Commendation Medal

Capt Bobbie Maybrier daughter of Mrs Laura Maybrier 5236 Ralph Ave received the Army Commendation Medal for Vietnam service with the 311 Field Hospital Unit Sharonville joining the 44th Medical Brigade at Phu Thanh in 1968 She issued a clothing appeal for Vietnamese children at the 69th Evacuation Hospital and trained at the Jewish Hospital School of Nursing now serving in the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Hospital operating room.

Leaf Collection To Begin Soon In Cincinnati

The Waste Collection Division announces leaf pickup will start soon. Each residence may have up to two containers per trash day, with boxes and bags tied and curbside. Burn permits are required from the Fire Division. Hauling to city incinerators runs daily 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in western areas Crookshank Road west of Glenway Avenue and Mill Creek Road west of Mill Creek and south of West Park Creek entrance from Ralston Avenue. Property owners own leaves on their property and sidewalk. the city handles street leaves.
