Suburb Growth Pressures Tax System in Hamilton County

The Hamilton County Auditor reports that about two thirds of new residential construction in 1968 occurred outside Cincinnati, with suburban areas driving tax duplicate increases and industrial growth. The county faces 119 taxing districts, rising delinquent taxes near four million dollars, and a large share of the tax base from property taxes. A statewide re appraisal aims to equalize assessments, potentially reducing local revenue.
