Delhi Fire Department Gains Independent Contract and New Chief
A $120000 three year contract shifts fire protection from the Delhi Township to a self run Fire Department. Chief Rudy Kusar will retire from his paid post to gain seniority under PERS while remaining as a volunteer chief for the signing ceremony. The agreement transfers ownership of equipment to the Fire Department and sets up independent bookkeeping and operations.

The 10th annual American Legion Americanism Awards Dinner will be at 7 p.m. March 18 at the Sheraton-Gibson Hotel with Rev. Daniel Lyons, Sr. as speaker on “Survival USA.” Sponsors include George W. Arson Charge Filed In Purcell Ave Fire
Edwin McCauslin a 49 year old Price Hill man charged with arson had his case continued pending psychiatric examination. He allegedly barricaded himself in his apartment at 805 Purcell and fled the fire carrying a butcher knife. The blaze caused about 7500 dollars in damage to the two story dwelling. Firemen from Engine Companies 17 and 25 Ladder Company 6 and the Second District Fire Marshal fought the flames for about two hours.
