Senior Home Breaks Ground Planned In Western Hills
Ground breaking for a nine story 200 unit senior citizens high rise on West Eighth Street is scheduled within two weeks. Metropolitan Housing Authority Director Carl Mayerhoefer announced the project by developer Nathan Downey of Benton Harbor Michigan and architect firm G E Diekma and Associates. About 30 to 35 applications have been received, mostly from nearby seniors who wish to stay near their stomping grounds. Applications contact Mrs. Jean Biddle of the MHA.

First Area GI Dennis Heitner Killed in Cambodian Operation
Army 1st Lt. Dennis Edward Heitner 24 of Cincinnati area was the first Western Hills casualty in the Cambodian operation in Indochina. Heitner led a patrol when killed by mortar fire June 13 northwest of Saigon near the Cambodian border. He earned a field promotion to 1st lieutenant and had been in Vietnam since January with the 25th Infantry Division. He was a Syracuse University architecture student and Phi Gamma Delta president. Funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church with burial at Arlington Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his parents, a brother and three sisters. Memorial funds were established in his name by the church and Lutheran Youth League.

Oak Hills Board schedules two July meetings on student aid
The Oak Hills Board of Education sets a July 1 special meeting at 8 PM to seek a prosecutor's view on authority to join the All Students Council for funding. A July 6 public budget hearing and monthly meeting follow at 7 30 PM. The board weighed prosecutor opinions and a county official recommended joining the council.

Delhi Life Squad Responds to Eight Emergency Runs
Over six days the Delhi Life Squad handled eight calls including a possible broken nose from an auto crash at Anderson Ferry Road and Cleves Pike. Edward Willig, 75, was hospitalized at St. George Hospital. Tom Fearing, 40, was taken to Veterans Hospital after a fall. Jerry Kleaman, 14, treated at St. Francis Hospital for head and shoulder injuries. Vernon Madell, 58, found dead at home likely of a heart attack. Wanda Taylor, 43, suffered a stroke and was moved to General Hospital. Ray S. Yargovan, 55, pronounced dead on arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital.
