Butte Boy Falls From Fire Escape Near Death
Five year old Charles LaDue, son of Mr and Mrs Andrew LaDue of 14 W Quartz, fell from a second story fire escape to a rubble strewn ground Friday night. He suffered a severe head injury and other wounds and was placed in an oxygen tent at St James Hospital. He was half conscious and sobbed for his mother as parents and friends rushed him there. The LaDues had only recently moved from Havre. Mr LaDue works as a miner.

Three of Crew Wounded by Soviet Bullets
A patrol bomber crew was attacked by two Russian MiG jets over the Bering Straits June 22. Three crew members were wounded by bullets, and the plane crash landed after an engine fire. Four other crew members sustained severe burns. the seven injured plus four others were rescued and flown to Elmendorf AFB before returning to Kodiak. The Navy has not released additional names.

River Gives Up Warden's Body
The body of Harold Gartside, a Montana state game warden from Sidney, was found in the Missouri River near the Lewis and Clark Bridge about noon Friday, exactly one month after he drowned in an April 24 boat capsizing near Snowden Bridge. Gartside, 38, joined the Fish and Game Department in 1948 and served at Sidney after earlier duty at Plentywood. He was born August 22, 1916 in Vanguard, Saskatchewan.
