Contempt Charge Looms for Nelson Under Un American Activities
Washington June 23 The House committee voted to cite Steve Nelson for contempt for refusing to answer questions on Russian atomic espionage. Rep Harrison said the panel will review about 30 other uncooperative witnesses over a year and pursue citations and prosecution. Nelson, labeled a Communist functionary, testified June 8 1949 about alleged Red infiltration at a UC radiation lab and bomb project info he supposedly knew. The 1949 report notes Nelson as a Yugoslav native who entered the U S in 1920 after passport fraud and trained in Moscow in 1931.

Six Saved After Plane Crashes
In Tokyo on Saturday the Air Force reported six men from a Superfort down at sea were rescued. Three other survivors are being sought and two are missing. The B-29 disappeared after a training flight from Okinawa, around 140 miles southeast of Guam. Survivors suffered bruises and exposure as rescuers continued to search for two unaccounted men. One of the FBI's Most Wanted Shot in Indianapolis
In Indianapolis on June 23 two FBI agents wounded Henry Harlan Shelton, 42, a fugitive on the bureau's ten most wanted list, after he attempted to draw a gun as agents arrested him in an east side tavern. Shelton, born in Indianapolis, had escaped from Northern Michigan State Prison in Marquette where he served a 60 year term for armed robbery. FBI official Harvey G.
