Montana Supreme Court Reinstates Parking Meter Costs

The Montana Supreme Court granted Missoula officials a writ ordering reinstatement of 66.25 dollars in a parking meter case and ordered Judge Besancon to show cause why defense costs were not reinstated. The decision overturns a lower court ruling favoring plaintiffs challenging city meters operation. A separate note reports two CAA officials escaping injury after a forced landing near Coeur d Alene Idaho.

Indian Indicted in Murder Case

Everett Booth, an Indian man aged 38, was indicted by a Helena grand jury on two counts of murder. He is held for federal court in Glasgow after being taken into custody following the March 21 shooting of Dale Monson, the Poplar elevator manager, near government land. The coroner’s jury previously deemed Booth the slayer and the case was turned over to the FBI.

Governor Bam C. Ford urged Montana high school girls at Girls' State Democracy School to resist totalitarianism and defend democracy. Odd Fellows elect Montana grand lodge officers

Chester L. Harkness of Missoula was named grand master at the Montana grand lodge of Odd Fellows closing sessions. Other officers named include N. L. Jennings of Glasgow as deputy grand master, Wayne Dickson of Big Sandy as grand warden, W. H. Johns of Butte as grand secretary, and J. Lew Gracy of Bozeman as grand treasurer. Citizens Education Group to Meet in Missoula Sessions

Montane citizens committee on education will hold a two day meeting on the state university campus in Missoula Monday and Tuesday. Chairman Paul Harlow of Thompson Falls said four out of state educators attending the university’s summer session will serve as consultants. The group seeks to learn how educators address current educational problems.
