Ninety Two Montana Candidates Seek Party Nominations

Helena June 10 Ninety two candidates pressed campaigns for party nominations for state offices and Montana’s congressional delegation. Fifty six sought June filing deadlines. July 20 primary would decide races for governor, U S senator, and two representatives along with numerous state posts and district judgeships.

McKinley Graduates Donate to Children's Crusade

McKinley graduates forego the class gift and donate to the Montana Crusade for Children. Eighth graders raised funds through an operetta Sleepy Head performed Thursday before commencement. Class President Ray Casagranda presented the gift to Miss Mary L. Quigley to support food clothing and medicine for suffering children abroad. Diplomas were awarded by Miss Quigley to a large list of graduates.

Boy Scouts Plan Reunion Sunday at Flathead Lake

About 50 to 70 regional Boy Scouts who attended the world jamboree in Molason France will visit Melba Island senior Scout camp at Flathead Lake for a week long reunion. They will be joined by around 40 dads and leaders including Frank X. Guardipee and Dr. F C Adams, with regional officials noting attendees from Washington Oregon Idaho and Montana.

Condon withdraws candidacy for state education post

Mary M. Condon of Billings withdrew her unopposed bid for the Democratic nomination for superintendent of public instruction after filing as a candidate. A faculty member at Eastern Montana Normal School, she directs student activities and is pursuing graduate work in speech and education. Officials in Helena had no word on the withdrawal and noted a candidate often cannot withdraw after nominating petitions are certified.

Crowd Packs Anaconda Copper Club Whist Night

A capacity crowd gathered Thursday in the Crystal room of the Anaconda Copper Mining Company Employees Club for a whist session. Tables filled early and prizes were awarded for top scores with several special awards given. The next event will feature pinochle next Thursday.
