National Parks Airways at Butte shops installed a Pratt and Whitney Hornet 525 hp engine in the Boeing 40 C 4, replacing the 425 hp Wasp. The upgrade boosts cruising speed to 105 mph with reserves for night flying aided by landing lights flares and navigation lights. Stearman mail passenger ships on the Pocatello to Salt Lake City run gain added flares and lights, with new air mail and overhaul work on Fokker Super Universal planes.
