Mrs. Lee M. Ferguson 45 was fatally wounded during a church area melee in Euporo Mississippi when her husband a magistrate opened fire while searching a car for liquor. Tom Elkins 19 was shot through the lung and several others were assaulted as riots erupted among farmers and their families.
Washington announces Edward F. Kitts of Helena Montana will receive the distinguished service cross for extraordinary heroism as a corporal in Company D 362nd Infantry 91st Division. In action near Epinonville France on September 26 1928 he routed an enemy machine gun nest and killed and captured opposing detachments.
Miss Marie Veronica Harrington 21 a Butte native dies after delaying appendicitis surgery to finish the school term. Daughter of Mrs Dennis Harrington she attended St Marys parochial school and Girl's central high, later earning a degree from Montana State Normal college.
Senator F M Simmons, defeated for the Democratic nomination by Josiah Bailey, pledged to back the party ticket in November. The move ends internal Democratic strife dating to the 1928 Albert Smith opposition, with Simmons stating he will support Bailey and the ticket.
Montana forecast calls for generally fair weather on Monday and Tuesday with a modest rise in temperatures. No precipitation expected and light winds may accompany the warmth.

A rally closed the eighth annual Salvation Army Young Peoples Congress with delegates from more than 12 Montana cities.
