Captain Wold’s decision to shorten his course by 10 miles is credited with guiding the Roosevelt to safety as lights from the Northwestern and Roosevelt appeared after Cape Decision. The Roosevelt crew wore life belts as the Northwestern sent out a lifeboat.

Butte scouts entered the search for Dan Blue missing since Christmas night. Two brought in the only trace of the 68 year old retiree since he separated from his wife after leaving the Rialto theater. A landlady at D Acheul block Fast Park street identified a man as Mr Blue from a photo shown by Fred Hill and Harvey Lasley but could not confirm the day or whether the man registered there. another rooming house lead proved false when the Thornton place landlady said the picture did not match the man she knew as Mr Blue. The city is divided into six districts in the search aided by Mr Blues family and the Masonic orders. Police and sheriffs officers have scoured the area since the disappearance was reported Wednesday.

Salvation Army Christmas Cheer With Record Donations
The Butte Salvation Army led by Adjutant Hall reports total holiday receipts of 961 dollars. Volunteers provided 140 food baskets, a Christmas tree, and toys candy fruit and nuts for 250 children. Jail inmates also received candy nuts and fruit. The Exchange Club raised about 312.93 dollars, boosting the year’s largest donation. Unknown to man glass piece in forearm for 19 years
Vancouver, Dec. 28. W. J. Gilbert washed a window nineteen years ago when a pane broke in his left forearm. He believed it removed. Last night a slight wrist pain led him to hot water and squeezing a red area, revealing a sharp piece of glass protruding through the skin. He pulled out a fragment three quarters of an inch long that had traveled about eight inches through his forearm and wrist.

US Liquor Case Term Ends With 217 Trials and Fines
A nine day criminal term in United States court here heard 217 cases with jail sentences totaling 4975 days and fines of 30495 dollars. Of 195 liquor defendants, 100 received jail terms and fines while the rest were fined only. The heaviest punishment was eight months in jail and a 250 dollar fine for Paul Fall, a rancher near Silver Bow, convicted of manufacturing whisky. Knoles found guilty of possessing liquor but acquitted of manufacture and nuisance, fined 200 dollars.
