Winchell Booth nine year old son of Mr and Mrs Charles F Booth was killed yesterday in Los Angeles when struck by an automobile. Message received by Mrs Mae McCormick of Slemons Booth realty. The Booth family lived in Butte for many years and left in 1913. Survived by parents and three brothers.
Radio listeners in the mining city and beyond can hear two musical programs and a midnight mass on KGIR starting at 8 tonight. Mme Marie Leipheimer directs a festival featuring Ferdinand Destabelle and Charlotte Orton students, with Rainbow Girls choir. at 9 the 38 member Butte male chorus led by George V. Stevens performs for an hour, followed by a direct wire broadcast of the midnight mass from St. Patrick’s at 11.
The 1929 holiday season set a new high for Butte postal volume with first class mail topping 318000 pieces in four days from December 20. Parcel post figures are also far above any prior year, according to postmaster Richard Brimacombe.
Salt Lake City December 23. Two youthful robbers held up the Jordan Valley bank at Riverton Utah and were captured after a running gun battle by Henry P. Hurren cashier of the bank and former all conference guard of the University of Utah football team.
