Washington December 14 President Hoover ordered the release of 36 communists held after a White House demonstration. He said they should be sent to their parents rather than kept for martyrdom. Police records show they spent hours in custody before the request for release arrived from the White House.
Montana's state tax bill for the year will be 25 587 903 dollars, exclusive of local levies, the state board of equalization announced. The rise, about 8 percent, is due to higher property valuations and new laws, with taxable value at 443 082 816 dollars, and various specific levies producing changes across the educational, bond, and livestock taxes.
Japanese leaders Reijiro Wakatsuki and Admiral Takeshi Takerabe travel to Washington for talks with President Hoover and Secretary Stimson ahead of the London Naval conference. The discussions aim to clarify naval issues and align American and Japanese viewpoints before next week’s meetings.

She then entered a not guilty by reason of temporary insanity plea claiming to have regained full faculties. The killing occurred morning of November 7 and involved a soup bone an axe and an automobile jack.
More than 100 American Legion and auxiliary members from all parts of the Min ing district attended the quarterly gathering in Deer Lodge. Anaconda will host the February meeting. banquet speakers included Harold DePue and Dan Kibler.

Namen Lahood a Butte pugilist was acquitted of manslaughter after three hours of deliberation in a case tied to Elizabeth Kelly a 22 year old Butte girl killed Oct 27 when struck by a taxi driven by Lahood The verdict came after a crowded courtroom watched by more than 100 people and Judge Lynch adjourned court with Lahood and his wife visibly moved by the outcome.
Silver Bow county to pay 17,000 in road bonds on Monday saving taxpayers 1,020 in interest. Bonds dated Oct 9 1920 were callable a year early to reduce interest and will be paid when the road fund allows, officials say.
