Mantuan department of Veterans of Foreign Wars urged the Veterans Administration to open bids for the proposed 100 bed VA hospital in Miles City Montana. East Commander John W Bonner of Helena a Democrat candidate for governor said the VA indicated bids may be delayed due to a shortage of electricians and that Miles City hospital construction is crucial for Montana veterans who would otherwise need care out of state. Four young women were killed and two others critically injured in a car crash on Highway 11 seven miles northwest of Dropping, Idaho. Sheriff Lou Krumslek identified the deceased as Lucille Heltstman, 21, of Mill City, Oregon. The injured include Ralph Simms, about 21, of Spokane, Washington, and Wand Miller, about 91, reportedly a family member employed on a construction job near Fort Peck, Montana. 61 Hurt in Crash in Philadelphia
