D L Stewart a former Prichard patrolman was shot and slashed in a bid to kill himself after wounding his wife with buckshot. He remained in dangerous condition at City Hospital while Mrs Stewart recovered from arm injuries. kin and authorities said illness and worry over a lost investment preceded the crisis.
The bicycle seized for transporting liquor was auctioned at the federal building in Mobile at noon Saturday for five dollars. A. Moiseeff, of Tanner Ferry road, bought the bike after Walter Lee Rovers, the liquor courier, pleaded guilty. Eddie Lee Thomas and Robert Thomas were later arrested on prohibition charges.
The Wagner Plumbing Company of Mobile received Saturday the contract to install fittings for new automatic water jets at the Mobile post office. The old cooling system will be removed and taken to a leper colony in Louisiana.
The Louisville and Nashville railroad plans a Sunday excursion to New Orleans leaving the city at 7 15 am and returning Sunday night from the Crescent City at 7 15 pm. Special Agent Charles Farrar will oversee the train.

A late Friday blaze began in outhouses at Shady Nook on the bay front below the city. Mobile fire department Company No. 11 fought the fire with help from local residents range riders and workers from the Sheffield turpentine camp. Assistant Fire Chief Emanuel Tapia led the Mobile unit as locals and turpentine workers aided in blocking and controlling the flames. Shady Nook lies at Carroll's lane and the Bay Front road and is owned by Cliff Connors.
Rose Brown a nine year old resident of Toulminville was cut and bruised when a car she rode in collided with another at Jackson and Congress streets. She was treated at City hospital and later returned home.

In Terre Haute Indiana police found the bodies of Wesley Oakley 55 Mrs Clara Raney 23 and Raney s five year old son in Oakley s apartment The woman had killed Oakley and her son then killed herself Oakley s 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son also heard nothing before the shots Oakley s wife is in a state hospital The motive remains undetermined and a gun was found beside Raney s body.
Burglars entered a residence and store at Irvington Friday, forcing a front door and stealing a cake and sausage. Police report an investigation is underway as witnesses describe frightened staff and an unauthorised entry.
Grand jury returned indictments for Harry Jones 57 and a Black man on second degree murder in the death of his wife. She was hospitalized with a skull fracture after being struck with an instrument. Det Bauer and officers arrested Jones at 171 North Ann Street after son and daughter confronted him. He admitted delivering the fatal blow after initially blaming three masked men. Other indictments included Claude Parker for burglary, Jackson 60 for larceny from a supply company, Mrs Hockstein Nelson 40, Mrs Arthur Lane 38, and Carl Toft for violating Prohibition law.
John Bestor Robertson for the lower house and William Holcombe for sheriff of Mobile County will address a Mobile County League of Women Voters meeting at the YMCA Monday. Robertson speaks at 10 o'clock and Holcombe at 11. The session is open to all interested, whether league members or not.
Joseph D. Hughes of the Fi Beane office leaves Saturday with visits planned to Chicago and New York before continuing to Fort Erie Ontario where John H. Madigan of the Fort Erie Racing Association will be in charge with Pat E. Hughes assisting.
