In dense fog off Boston two ships the tanker Pinthis of Fall River and the passenger liner Fairfax collided. Flames and burning oil swept the Fairfax as the tanker sank within twenty minutes. Eleven injured and many missing. Survivors were rescued by the Gloucester and landed at Boston harbor.
